Clients I Work With
I specialize in working with teens and young adults. Whether they are experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, school struggles, mood disorders, suicidal ideation, self-harm, or family conflict, we explore unhelpful patterns and build practical skills for balance, focus, healthier relationships, and self-compassion—tools that fit real life and make a meaningful difference. I use a mix of modalities including CBT, DBT, ACT, and strength-based approaches. I above all want patients to understand that progress isn’t a straight line, that their struggles aren’t their fault, and that it is possible to feel happier, stronger, and more capable even after setbacks.
Approach
I approach every session with honesty and presence. Patients tend to open up to me because I’m genuine. I’ve faced challenges myself, remember just how hard that stage of life can feel, and above all, I am on their side.
I’m honest with patients about finding the balance between relying on their parents and asserting their independence. I help them learn to express their needs while reinforcing that they are their own person. I also normalize that coping skills, like pausing to think before acting or practicing mindfulness, can feel awkward or impossible at first. If journaling doesn’t work, we can try a video diary; if mindfulness feels boring, we find a way to make it engaging. I encourage them to stick to skills that work for them because I’m confident that even small, consistent efforts can lead to lasting change.
Beliefs & Lived Experience
My path to becoming a Clinical Social Worker was shaped early by watching my mother support adults living with severe mental illness. I witnessed the impact of consistent, compassionate care and the deep trust she built over time. Volunteering alongside her showed me how powerful reliable relationships can be. Growing up as a twin further shaped me, deepening my respect for individuality and teaching me to approach others without assumptions about who they are. In adolescence, I struggled with perfectionism and tying my worth to achievement and control, which ultimately affected my mental health. A transformative therapeutic relationship in early adulthood helped me understand that worth is inherent, not earned. That realization continues to guide my work as I strive to offer a safe, genuine space rooted in empathy, authenticity, and self-compassion.
More About My Practice
I work part time at Slate Psychology on Fridays and Saturdays. I typically work with teenage patients ages 13-17 for therapy. Our team is a small group of women who all collaborate together to give our patients the best care. We are a boutique practice, so no one feels like a number.
