Clients I Work With

When you're finally in a safe enough place in your life, the been difficult experiences or harmful relationships you've been through can come back to haunt you. You can go from being the person who has it all together, to unraveling as these experiences start to impact your work, your relationships, and your mood. You might be thinking “I just want to move on with my life. I should be over this already.” But no matter how many times you try to move on, you still feel stuck. You are not alone. I specialize in working with people who have experienced trauma at the hands of another person, including sexual assault or abuse, physical abuse or neglect, emotional abuse or neglect, and verbal abuse.

Approach

Trauma therapy is tough work, and it happens best in the context of a safe and supportive relationship between therapist and client. I am here to hold the unspeakable things with you so that you don't have to do this by yourself anymore. Together, we will work to build a trusting and authentic relationship where you can feel safe enough to explore what happened in your life, the ways you have survived, and how to get unstuck and move toward a life that is ruled by you, not the trauma. I am not the stereotypical "blank slate" therapist. Sessions with me feel more like conversations a lot of the time, with some "parts work" (Internal Family Systems therapy) sprinkled in to help us dive into the deeper stuff. I believe that laughter is healing, you can expect to laugh together as we navigate the harder work of healing from trauma.

Beliefs & Lived Experience

As a survivor of trauma myself, I am intimately familiar with the powerful impact therapy can have on a person’s life. I know what it is like to put your trust in a professional during your most raw and painful moments, and I treat this responsibility with a great deal of care. It is this personal experience that led me to focus my therapeutic work on helping others who have experienced trauma. You deserve to be heard, respected, and embraced for who you are, and your story deserves to be told. I truly love my work as a therapist, and I feel so fortunate to get to do this for a living. It is a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they take back their power from the memories that made them feel powerless. When I'm not with my clients, you can find me exploring the outdoors with my dog, curled up on the couch crocheting or reading a good book, or spending time with loved ones.
