I am a strength-based therapist. Many clinicians use a medical model, "what's wrong with you?" and then they seek to resolve it. A strength-based approach means I see you as so much more than your problems. We will zoom out to see your life in context. I will ask what's going well in addition to what you want to change. This avoids hyper-focusing on what feels bad and allows a broader perspective. I use attachment-focused EMDR (EMDRIA Certified & a Consultant). This approach can offer expedited in-depth healing from trauma for those who are candidates. CRM/TRM are somatic approaches I weave into sessions. This facilitates a connection between the mind and body. Sometimes soothing the nervous system can precede calming the mind. My relational approach means that my humor and personality are present in sessions. I'm directive which means I'll teach tools instead of "just listening."
