Clients I Work With

The clients who work well with me are those who may be self aware, or knowledgeable about therapy techniques, but do not have the tools to make the improvements they already know they need to make. I also help my clients see things from different perspectives in order to fully understand the situations they've experienced and why they react the way they do. Clients who come to me often struggle with family dynamics, perhaps they are the scape goat, or the helper/fixer of their family. Often my clients have experienced abuse of some sort, be it childhood, adulthood, religious, or sexual. The clients I most enjoy helping are those who struggle to feel seen, to understand why they are constantly treated poorly, and why no one seems to understand what they are feeling. These clients also often struggle with behaviors they can't seem to stop or prevent.

Approach

In sessions, my approach is straightforward. I will hold your hand if that will help you, and guide you gently to your answer. But more often than not, my clients prefer someone who helps them see things clearly, without placing blame on any person in particular. Our sessions may have tears, but they will also have laughter. Emotions are to be processed, not bottled up. Honesty is everything, and the more comfortable my clients are, the more honest they are with both me and themselves. I view every single person as valuable, and the life they've experienced is framed through this idea. I will sit with you and help you find answers on why you struggle, or why others seem to always point blame at you. We will go through your past and decide what we want to take away from the story of your journey through life.

Beliefs & Lived Experience

I value honesty and laughter. My lived experience has been hard, from not being "on time" with my peer's milestones as a young adult, to graduating college at 38 for the first time, to being a single mom. Life isn't just one path or outcome, and choices shape where we end up. I believe that even if a choice made at the time may not have been the best idea, it always led us to the next step, whatever that may be.
