Clients I Work With
My areas of expertise include helping clients navigate neurodivergence, chronic pain/illness, generalized anxiety, OCD, grief, trauma and end of life.
Approach
I use a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to help clients navigate neurodivergence, chronic pain/illness, grief, trauma and end of life. I'll spend the first 1-2 sessions getting to know details of your needs, goals, and what tools work best for you. We'll develop an initial treatment plan together with you during those first few sessions that we can later revisit and tweak at any time.
Above all else, I believe in a therapeutic relationship built on dignity, respect and empowerment; centering clients as the experts in their own story.
As a therapist, I value providing treatment that is evidence based, such as CBT, which focuses on identifying how our thoughts shape our feelings and behaviors, and how we can replace distressing, or unhelpful thoughts with those that are useful.
Beliefs & Lived Experience
In an ever-uncertain world, I incorporate existentialism into treatment, emphasizing choice, freedom, and importance of living in the here-and-now. Existentialism acknowledges the reality of life's painful truths without attempting to soften or minimize them, but without abandoning hope of building a better tomorrow.
Radical hope asserts that a better future is possible, even if current circumstances prevent us from fully seeing the path forward. John Green said “hope is the correct response to the strange, often terrifying miracle of consciousness. Hope is not easy or cheap. It is true.” Radical hope does not say things will get better by themselves, or that the path forward will be without hardship, but asserts that that humans are resilient, clever and often underestimate their own ability to persevere
