Clients I Work With
I help folks who are intensely curious about the “why”- why is this still bothering me? Why don’t I know how to let this go? Why can I do so well at work and then fall apart to easily at home?
I primarily work with high achieving adults with histories of childhood trauma and/or ADHD. If you were in Talented and Gifted and still try to make sure all the boxes are checked in your personal and professional life, but intertally feel overwhelmed and like you might just scream or cry into the void, I might just be the therapist for you.
I know that a major component of successful therapy is finding the right therapist who not only has skills and experience, but is also someone who "clicks" with you, so I offer a 20 minute session to make sure that we are a great fit!
Approach
I take a relational view to therapy- meaning that I show up as a real person, you'll hear me cuss, you can ask me questions, we can talk about my world view and I'm okay with you challenging it. I'm also a natural teacher- I love teaching folks about their brains, their biology, about history and philosophy! Clinical social work allows me to constantly challenge my own assumptions about privilege, identity and norms- as a straight-presenting, totally together seeming queer person with raging ADHD and trauma history, I am familiar with the clash of the internal not matching the external.
Beliefs & Lived Experience
My work stems from a place where I believe that folks can change the beliefs or habits that no longer serve them. I believe that people have the capacity to heal and - while therapy is no guarantee of happiness- my clients tell me they feel lighter after we meet.
More About My Practice
I really love this work and I take good care of myself to ensure that I can show up fully for you. I participate in peer support, continuing education and, yes, have my own kickass therapist.
