I have studied and worked with people who have experienced significant losses and traumas (particularly early parental loss) in great depth. I have also had considerable experience with people who are struggling with issues around relationships, overfunctioning, infidelity, mid life crises/aging, peri/menopause,anxiety, fertility, cross cultural issues and perfectionism.
Approach
I mainly work from a psychodynamic framework, but use eclectic interventions and am guided by my client's unique desires, longstanding patterns and needs. I have had success treating individuals struggling with issues related to interpersonal/relationship difficulties, identity development/stage of life issues, anxiety, cultural adjustment, fertility difficulties and grief.
More About My Practice
I believe that most emotional pain comes both from difficult life circumstances and how we perceive those events. I work in an open, warm, collaborative and empathically challenging way to help people better explore, understand and wrestle with the issues that are keeping them from finding more peace, joy, freedom, understanding and fulfillment. More specifically, I try to help people respond to their life circumstances in a more flexible, creative and thoughtful way than they have been doing with their old patterns of reacting to and approaching their life.
