About this provider

Clients I Work With

I work with adolescents (13+) and adults who may be anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, hurting, questioning, grieving, burned out, or trying to make sense of experiences that continue to affect them. Many of my clients are navigating trauma, chronic illness or pain, suicidal thoughts, identity, or major changes in life. Others cannot easily name what is wrong; they simply know something is not working. I especially enjoy working with people who are curious about themselves and open to exploring new ways of understanding or responding to what they are experiencing. You do not need to arrive with a perfectly defined goal. Figuring out what you need can be part of the work.

Approach

I believe therapy can be both deeply supportive and actively useful. Some days you may need space to talk, feel, laugh, cry, vent, or simply be understood. Other days we may examine a pattern, practice a skill, work with a difficult thought, explore what matters to you, or notice what is happening in your body. I draw from person-centered therapy, CBT, DBT, ACT, compassion-focused and mindfulness-based approaches, adapting them rather than following a formula. I value curiosity over judgment, compassion over shame, and collaboration over telling you how to live. We regularly check whether therapy is helping and change course when something is not working.

Beliefs & Lived Experience

I believe people deserve care that respects their humanity, autonomy, identities, bodies, relationships, and ways of making meaning. I also believe there is rarely one "right" way to heal. My perspective is shaped by lived experience and years spent working across mental health, healthcare, crisis services, hospice, and mind-body practices. I value inclusion, harm reduction, curiosity, authenticity, humor, and compassion. I try to bring those values into the room by meeting people where they are, remaining open to experiences different from my own, and creating space where you do not have to hide parts of yourself to be taken seriously.

More About My Practice

Therapy with Z is a fully online practice offering individual psychotherapy for teens and adults who are physically located in states where I am authorized to practice. Beyond individual therapy, my broader work includes coaching, group therapy, classes, workshops, trainings, and retreats. I also have extensive training in mindfulness, complementary approaches, massage therapy, and yoga, including trauma-informed yoga, which informs my understanding of the relationship between emotional and physical well-being. Mind-body practices can be incorporated into therapy when they are clinically appropriate, meaningful to you, and something you want to explore.
