About this provider
Clients I Work With
I work with children from age 7, teens, adults, couples and families who are tired of being misunderstood instead of supported. A lot of my clients carry complex trauma or PTSD, and many are also autistic, ADHD, or living with a serious mental illness like bipolar disorder or psychosis. Some were identified late, after a burnout that took every coping strategy with it. Many are BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled, or living rural, where the nearest therapist who works with trauma is hours away and probably doesn’t take your insurance. If you’ve tried therapy before and left feeling managed rather than heard, you’re the person I built this practice for. You don’t need a diagnosis, the right words, or a tidy version of the story to start.
Approach
My work is trauma-responsive, not just trauma-informed. The difference is whether anything in the room actually changes because of what you’ve been through: the pace, the questions, how hard I press. You set the speed, and you can close a topic for the day without explaining why. The first two sessions are history and assessment, then we build a plan together. Practical tools and regulation come first, deeper processing once that holds. I work integratively and pull from EMDR, IFS, somatic and polyvagal-informed work, ACT, DBT skills, CPT, ERP for OCD, and Gottman Method training for couples. With neurodivergent clients the goal is minimum-to-no masking, so stimming, pacing, looking away or sitting quietly are all welcome. I do not use applied behavior analysis.
Beliefs & Lived Experience
I became a therapist after watching people with trauma, neurodivergence, and marginalized identities get misunderstood rather than supported, and sometimes misdiagnosed along the way. Therapy should mean being heard, accurately understood, and treated for what’s actually going on. I’m neurodivergent-affirming and LGBTQIA+ affirming without qualification, and you won’t have to educate me on the basics of your life first. Disability access is built into how I run this practice, not tacked on at the end. My clients have shaped me in ways I may never be able to give back. Every training, specialty and license I hold carries their stories, and I’m the clinician I am because of them.
More About My Practice
Every session is by secure video, and I’m licensed in 27 states. Sessions run as long as your care needs, not a clock set by billing codes. Cameras stay on during sessions, but eye contact, self-view and how you frame yourself on screen are flexible. Everything starts with a free 15-minute consultation, and there’s no pressure to book on the call. Beyond therapy, I offer clinical supervision for social workers working toward clinical licensure (board-approved in AL, CA, MN, MS, OH, UT and VA, and able to supervise in GA, IL, IN and WV), plus workshops, trainings and consultation for agencies and clinicians. Documentation like FMLA or accommodation letters is available for established clients for a separate fee.
