Clients I Work With
You might be a high-achieving professional whose success feels hollow, or a performing artist whose anxiety goes deeper than stage nerves. Maybe you're untangling the invisible wounds left by a high-control religion, a dysfunctional family system, or an institution that normalized harm. Perhaps you've been told you're "too sensitive" or "too intense" — but what I see is someone who feels deeply and thinks critically in a world that didn't always make space for that. If you're ready to do real work (not just feel better temporarily), and you want a therapist who won't flinch at complexity, you might be exactly who I work with. I work well with academics, visual and performance artists, athletes, public servants, and anyone who feels like therapy
Approach
Sessions with me don't feel "therapisty." I'm warm and genuinely empathetic — but not artificially soft-spoken or endlessly validating. I'll meet you where you are, at your pace, and help you build regulation without overwhelming you. I trained in high-pressure performance environments, so I know intensity — and I know how to work with it skillfully. I draw primarily from EMDR, person-centered, and attachment-focused approaches, always tailored to you. My job is to take such good care of myself that I can be fully present and reliably steady for your process.
Beliefs & Lived Experience
I believe healing happens in genuine relationship — not therapeutic performance. As a professional violinist who has performed at the Kennedy Center and White House, I've lived the pressure of high-stakes performance culture. As someone who has navigated high-control religious and institutional systems, I understand that kind of invisible harm from the inside. I also spent years as a primary parent and stay-at-home mother, and I consider mothers to be high performers whose intensive caregiving work often goes unrecognized. My faith informs my deep commitment to dignity, justice, and honest engagement. I show up as a real person because I think that's what actually helps.
More About My Practice
A significant focus of my practice is complex trauma from dysfunctional systems — family dynamics, cultural and religious organizations, workplaces, and artistic institutions. I specialize in helping clients recognize normalized patterns of harm that often remain invisible. My clinical training includes advanced EMDR, General Psychiatric Management certification from the Gunderson Personality Disorders Institute— skills I bring to work with high-achieving and artistic populations navigating complex emotional patterns. I offer individual therapy in-person in Charlottesville and via telehealth statewide, EMDR intensives, and consultation for therapists pursuing EMDRIA certification.
