Clients I Work With

I've been in social work since 2009, firmly rooted in community based mental health work in NYC and transitioned into private practice in 2017. I want to collaborate with my client(s), process together and have an authentic conversation. I am not a blank slate, nor do I assign homework. I love working with people who are interested in examining who they are and how they came to be. I focus on folks wanting to explore their sense of self, how they show up in relationships, and with attention paid to gender and sexuality. I am experienced in working with polyamorous, non monogamous, and kinky folks. I enjoy complex family systems, helping people to make meaning of attachments, enact more loving boundaries with people in their lives, and grow language around their emotions.

Approach

I'm a psychodynamic, relational, and analytic clinician who believes the past influences our current life. I seek to move unconscious influence into our consciousness so we can understand its presence and purpose. I think that softness and resiliency are not in opposition and I hope that our therapy together will uncover our capacity for both. I also believe understanding our relational dynamics is essential for self knowledge and progress in life. We are formed in relationship, we are harmed in relationship and we are healed thorough relationship. Although not a requirement, I believe long term work allows for all of you to unfold in the therapy space and I encourage you to be here as long as you want. There is no rush.

Beliefs & Lived Experience

I deeply believe in the complexities of everyone's human experience. Social location is one aspect of how we know each other and how the world knows us/treats us. I also think we come from family systems that have certain beliefs, preferences and guidelines and I love unpacking those and figuring out which ones you want to keep and which ones you want to build anew. I have a wide range of experience working with suicidality or chronic feelings of not wanting to be alive. Making meaning of desperation, building hope and more accurately describing what is happening internally that may lead to feelings of hopelessness. I also believe that gender and sexuality are spaces of exploration and self discovery. I work closely with substance use and care way more about the *why* around use then figuring out how to obtain abstinence.

More About My Practice

While I've listed more niche areas of interest I recognize most folks come into therapy to discuss general mental health concerns around anxiety, depression, self esteem, etc. I also work a lot with grief, loss and particularly having loved ones die from suicide. Also I love doing couples work-topics including divorce, navigating varying libidos, parenting concerns, cyclical conflict and communication patterns. I also provide supervision for beginning therapists working towards their independent licensure. I've supervised social work interns since 2013, received my Certified Field Instructor certificate in 2016, and have been supervising LSW/LMSWs since 2019. While my fee for individual is $150 and couples is $180, if you're interested in working together but need a deeper sliding scale-please inquire via email.
