About this provider

Clients I Work With

Up Late Therapy provides teletherapy to adults (18+) located anywhere in Illinois or Massachusetts. My caseload mostly consists of adult children of emotionally immature parents and dysfunctional families (in other words, people who didn't get what they needed emotionally growing up), high achievers, perfectionists, individuals struggling with imposter syndrome, people-pleasers, and folx who use substances (especially alcohol and cannabis) as a coping mechanism. I tend to work with people who appear to have it all together on the outside (at least professionally) but do not feel that way on the inside.

Approach

1. Discover the Origin • Unpack your upbringing. See exactly how your childhood shapes the way you relate to yourself, your work, and your relationships today. 2. Recognize Survival Patterns • Honor your past adaptations. Acknowledge the ways you learned to protect yourself as a child. • Cultivate deep internal safety. Build the internal security you need to break destructive cycles and prove to yourself that it is safe to do things differently. 3. Mourn the Past • Grieve what was missing. Give yourself permission to mourn the unconditional love, attunement, validation, and support you deserved but didn’t receive. • Connect with your inner child. Learn how to show up for that younger part of yourself so you can navigate life as your most mature, healed self—instead of letting your past wounds run the show. 4. Break the Habits • Evolve past survival mode. Shift away from behaviors that keep you trapped in old, undesirable patterns. • Reconnect with your authentic self, reclaim your inherent self-worth, and make value-aligned choices to build a life you love.

Beliefs & Lived Experience

You don’t need to have the right words before you come in. You don’t have to perform. You don’t have to convince me your struggles are bad enough. William Miller, the co-founder of motivational interviewing, describes a therapist’s role as a guide, and I share that exact belief. A guide does not fully lead and does not fully follow. Instead, they do a little of both. Think of a travel guide. They aren’t just going to follow you around, right? But you also wouldn’t want a guide to boss you around, telling you what you want to see and making assumptions about what you’ll enjoy. A good guide will listen to you, find out where you want to go, what you’re interested in, and what you’re hoping for on the journey and then draw on their own expertise to get you there, safely and efficiently. Therapy with me is similar. I will not solely follow or direct you. I will guide you. This will require your expertise just as much as mine.

More About My Practice

Up Late Therapy exclusively offers online evening and late-night appointments to accommodate your busy daytime schedule. While most therapists wrap up by 6:00 or 7:00 pm, I provide flexible scheduling tailored to busy professionals, night owls, and overstretched parents residing in Illinois or Massachusetts, including the Chicago and Boston regions. Exact times will vary depending on current availability, but typically the latest time slot I offer is from 1:00-2:00 AM Central Time. As a night owl, I noticed a severe shortage of non-emergency mental health support late at night. Up Late Therapy was founded to bridge this gap for fellow night owls, busy professionals, overstretched parents, shift workers, and insomniacs.
