About this provider
Clients I Work With
I have experience working with many concerns, though I specialize in working with individuals living with chronic illness and/or pain, athletes, young adults, and college students. As someone living with a chronic illness, I understand what it’s like to navigate complex conditions, find answers, and experience feelings of dismissal. I also enjoy working with athletes and understand the unique pressures they may face surrounding performance, competition, identity, and injury while overcoming mental and emotional challenges. Lastly, I help young adults navigate life transitions, relationships, and identity development.
I have completed intensive training in OCD, sports psychology, supporting athletes' mental health, supporting individuals with chronic illness and/or pain, life transitions, grief, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Positive Psychology, and more.
I also enjoy working with couples navigating communication concerns, parenting, differences in values, and premarital work.
Approach
I create an affirming space where everyone who walks through my door feels seen, heard, and supported without judgment. I believe that everyone has the strength within themselves to grow, and I will root for you every step of the way. I'm the type of therapist who will build an equal and genuine relationship with you but also isn't afraid to challenge you or point out patterns. I value authenticity throughout the therapy process and will strive to help you feel empowered and safe enough to be your authentic self while I do the same.
I will work collaboratively with you to uncover and identify your strengths and foster empowerment and growth. During our first session, we will talk about your history, current concerns, environment, and resources in order to create a plan tailored specifically for your needs and goals. We will continue getting to know each other and build a genuine and supportive relationship for the first couple of sessions. Once that relationship is built, we will work towards your goals together, collaboratively.
Beliefs & Lived Experience
I get what it's like to feel dismissed by the healthcare system. I get what it's like to have to manage or prevent flares in chronic illness. I get what it's like to have people tell you to "just get more sleep," "just eat better," "just exercise more". - Yeah, sorry, that's not gonna help (not really sorry). With that lived experience, I can connect with my clients with chronic illness and pain on a much deeper level and continue to affirm their experiences. From there, I can help them find continued meaning and fulfillment in their lives even WITH their illness or pain. I also advocate for individuals with these concerns.
I am passionate about removing the stigma around mental health in sports. I started my training in sports psychology during my undergraduate years when I took a sports psychology class and a few other kinesiology classes. I became invested in supporting athletes and helping them navigate the unique/complex pressures that they face on a day-to-day basis. Supporting athletes requires specialized training; I strive to provide the right support.
More About My Practice
I offer both individual and couples therapy.
I have two physical locations in Wisconsin: Glendale and West Allis, both in Milwaukee County. My practice is located inside the suites of Clinical Psychology Associates; we are a collective of private practice therapists serving Waukesha, Washington, and Milwaukee and surrounding counties.
I also offer virtual therapy for anyone in the state of Wisconsin.
A few things to be aware of:
- I am immunocompromised and ask that all of my clients stay home when sick and do virtual sessions instead (I do the same for my clients)
- I am sensitive to fragrances and scents, and ask that my clients be mindful of the perfume or cologne they wear
