Clients I Work With
I enjoy working with relationships, whether I'm seeing individuals or couples. Research shows that humans are wired for connection, and that supportive relationships are a key contributing factor to health, happiness, and even longevity. We'll collaborate to explore the attachment issues, "old stories," and patterns of interaction that keep you stuck in conflict or disconnection. I believe it's possible for partners to rebuild trust, improve communication, deepen mutual understanding, and move toward a healthier way of relating, whether they ultimately choose to stay together or respectfully go their separate ways. I welcome the opportunity to work with clients of all gender identities, orientations, and relationship structures, including polyamory/non-monogamy.
I also leverage 20+ years of experience in the music industry to provide mental health care for bands and performing artists.
Approach
My approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. I strive to create a safe and welcoming space, in which you can feel heard and understood. Together, we'll explore the thoughts, feelings, and habits that might be making you feel anxious or depressed, or keeping you stuck and confused. We'll discover the origins of those influences, and why they may no longer serve you. Then we can work to translate these insights into meaningful change. My goal is to help clients overcome obstacles, have a greater sense of self-determination, and experience more joy and fulfillment.
Beliefs & Lived Experience
In 2024, I completed a 2-year fellowship in couples therapy with the Psychodynamic Couple and Family Institute of New England (PCFINE), where I was introduced to psychodynamic concepts in working with couples. I integrate principles from cognitive behavioral therapy, Relational Life Therapy (RLT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Relational Self-Psychology, and the Gottman Method, tailoring an approach that fits each client’s unique needs. I keep my caseload small so I can give each client the time and attention they need, and keep myself current on continuing education and emerging research. Alongside formal training, I follow leading thinkers in the field of relationship counseling, including Esther Perel, Dr. Orna Guralnik, Lori Gottlieb, and Dr. Alexandra Solomon. I am also in the process of pursuing AASECT sex therapy certification.
More About My Practice
I see clients via telehealth only, and don't currently accept insurance, but I'm happy to provide "superbills" for clients to submit for out-of-network insurance reimbursement if their plan allows. I also partner with Mentaya to automate that process, and lower out-of-pocket costs - clients are welcome to check their coverage and see if that might be an option for them.
